We figured not. That’s why we put together our comprehensive guide to Memorial Day Weekend. We’ve brought together some of the most enticing recipes and biggest BBQ sales you need to check out to make sure you’re all set for this weekend.
Most of us think of Memorial Day and get hyper-focused on what meats we’ll be smoking up, which friends will be coming over for the cookout, and which low-cut sundress the divorced neighbor’s way-too-young girlfriend will wear…
But many of us will also spend some time reflecting on our freedom and the Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice for that freedom. The reason for this season is still to honor the sacrifice of our fallen servicemen and women. Freedom ain’t free. We honor that sacrifice, and this weekend we celebrate the freedom they earned for all of us.
Ok, let’s get cooking.
First, the food. Just in time for your Memorial Day grocery trip, Delish dropped a list of 91 Memorial Day BBQ recipes that really all look amazing. But a few stood out:
#5 Carne Asada - Because you can’t beat marinated steak. Plus, it feeds a lot of people for cheap.
#11 Sonoran Hot Dogs - If you’ve never been drunk in Tucson, you probably haven’t had one of these. They’re the BEST hot dogs of all time.
#53 Cowboy Steak with Grilled Red Onion Salad - Why is this cut always so impressive-looking? Be a cowboy.
#80 Cheddar Bacon Ranch Corn - If you have to eat a vegetable, grilled corn on the cob is the best way to go about it. With cheese and bacon, of course.
And how about some of those Memorial Day grilling deals?
Serious Eats did some of the hard work for us and dropped their list of Amazon’s Memorial Day Sale items. Of note, the Weber Spirit E-210, a few great Dutch Ovens, and some nice glass storage containers for your leftovers.
USA Today has a listicle of some deals that the BBQ Guys are running for Memorial Day. Weber Genesis E-330, anyone? Or maybe you’ve been eyeing a Kamado Joe for a while?
However you choose to honor Memorial Day, whomever you choose to celebrate with, and whatever you choose to grill, just grill something this weekend. Take a moment to remember those who served and enjoy your freedom with the ones you love!
